Case Study 1

In a study of adverse circulatory responses produced by intraabdominal pressure or touch during surgery, the surgeon rubbed different sections of the peritoneum with a sponge, pulled on the arteries, veins and nerves, gallbladder and stomach, and occluded a variety of vessels. The purpose of the study was to observe the circulatory and sympathetic responses to the stimuli.
